Center will be KinderCare's second on-site child care facility dedicated to law enforcement
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., July 7, 2025 – KinderCare Learning Companies, Inc. (NYSE: KLC) ("KinderCare"), a leading provider of high-quality early childhood education, and the National Law Enforcement Foundation (NLEF) are proud to announce the official opening of a dedicated early childhood education and care facility serving the families of St. Louis County Police Department.
This groundbreaking center is the result of a unique and innovative public-private partnership led by NLEF and the St. Louis Police Foundation, designed to support officer retention and recruitment by directly addressing one of the most pressing workforce challenges in law enforcement: access to high-quality, affordable childcare tailored to the demands of the profession. Along with the on-site center, the partnership gives the St. Louis County Police Department access to KinderCare's tuition benefit at centers nationwide.
As the second center of its kind in the nation—following the successful opening of the San Diego Police Officers Association Childcare Center—this initiative continues a bold national strategy to rethink how law enforcement agencies can better support officers and their families.
KinderCare is proud to lead this transformative effort alongside the NLEF, uniting private philanthropy, law enforcement leadership, and KinderCare's early education excellence to deliver real, measurable solutions that make the profession more sustainable.
This model reflects what's possible when community stakeholders come together to invest in those who serve. With extended hours, customized staffing, and deeply discounted tuition, this facility is already delivering peace of mind and stability to the officers who keep St. Louis County safe.
A KinderCare survey of HR leaders showed that employer-sponsored child care benefits are a necessity as employers compete for top talent. Eighty-five percent of HR leaders believe child care benefits reduce employee turnover, and 86% say these benefits help attract talent to their organization.
A separate KinderCare survey of more than 2,000 parents nationwide found that 59% would rather have their employer subsidize their child care costs than give them a raise, a 10% increase from 2024 survey results. Additionally, 63% of parents feel child care has become harder to secure in their local communities.
"We know how important access to high-quality child care is for working families, and that's why we're honored to work with the St. Louis County Police to provide this essential benefit to their employees," said Dan Figurski, president of KinderCare for Employers and Champions. "It's our hope that this center will offer each of their families peace of mind that their children are learning and growing in a safe space while their parents are hard at work serving the St. Louis community."
The center will provide early childhood education and care for 64 children of county police officers. It is designed for children aged six weeks to five years. The center will operate under unique hours from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Sunday, to accommodate the needs of employee parents.
