Crawfordsville center to support families from multiple local employers
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., March 31, 2025 – KinderCare Learning Companies, Inc. (NYSE: KLC) (“KinderCare”), a leading provider of high-quality early childhood education, recently opened a unique employer-sponsored child care center in Montgomery County, Indiana, an area where fewer than 40% of children under age five have access to high-quality child care. The center will support families from 16 local businesses with child care for up to 124 children, infants through preschool.
The Montgomery County Early Learning Center came about because of a unique partnership between businesses, government groups, and philanthropic organizations, all of whom worked together for more than five years to address the community’s need for more child care options. The center is in a newly remodeled building in Crawfordsville, about 50 miles northwest of Indianapolis. The center includes 11 classrooms, a gross motor room for indoor play and two age-specific playgrounds. The center will care for children from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and will provide meals and snacks during operating hours.
“We know child care is an essential benefit for working families, and we also know it can be challenging for families in communities outside of major cities to find access to care. The level of partnership between private industry, civic organizations, and local government makes the Montgomery County Early Learning Center truly unique,” said Dan Figurski, president of KinderCare for Employers and Champions. “With the opening of this unique KinderCare at Work center, 124 children will have access to high-quality early childhood education, which will prepare them for a lifetime of learning while also offering their families much needed support during their early years.”
A recent KinderCare survey of more than 2,000 parents nationwide showed that 63% of parents feel child care has become harder to secure in their local communities, while 82% of parents surveyed said they would advocate for more accessible child care in their state.
