Center will provide much needed care to 168 children of university faculty, staff and students
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., August 11, 2025 – KinderCare Learning Companies, Inc. (NYSE: KLC) (“KinderCare”), a leading provider of high-quality early childhood education, proudly joined the University of Notre Dame today to celebrate the official opening of a new, vibrant on-campus child care center.
The center, located in a brand-new building on the campus’ north side, will offer early childhood education and care to 168 children of Notre Dame faculty, staff and students. The building includes an outdoor playground as well as an indoor gym.
The center reflects a shared commitment to supporting university staff, faculty, and student-parents by offering high-quality care and education for children ages six weeks to five years old—promoting growth, learning, and peace of mind for families within the Notre Dame community. Along with the on-site center, the partnership gives Notre Dame faculty, staff and students access to KinderCare's tuition benefit at KinderCare Learning Centers and Champions before- and after-school programs nationwide.
“Notre Dame has a long history of supporting faculty and student families with access to high-quality early childhood education and care. We’re proud to join that tradition,” said Dan Figurski, president of KinderCare for Employers and Champions. “With the opening of KinderCare at Notre Dame, children will have a safe, supportive, and inspiring early learning environment – allowing them to learn and grow alongside Notre Dame students.”
A KinderCare survey of HR leaders showed that employer-sponsored child care benefits are critical as employers compete for top talent. Eighty-five percent of HR leaders believe child care benefits reduce employee turnover and 86% say these benefits help attract talent to their organization.
A separate KinderCare survey of more than 2,000 parents nationwide found that 59% would rather have their employer subsidize their child care costs than give them a raise, a 10% increase from 2024 survey results. Additionally, 63% of parents feel child care has become harder to secure in their local communities.
